Dr. Lessin was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and is a longtime resident of Haverford. He graduated Penn State University and received his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training in dermatology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he first worked with Dr. Cirillo. He received fellowship training in molecular biology at the Wistar Institute before joining the faculty of the Department of Dermatology of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and served as a co-director of the Cutaneous Lymphoma Program and Pigmented Lesion Group. At Fox Chase Cancer Center, he was director of Dermatology and the Melanoma Family Risk Assessment Program.
Dr. Lessin has received national awards for his skin cancer research, authored more than 100 medical and scientific publications, and is internationally recognized as a leader in skin cancer care. He serves on the boards of the Dermatology Foundation and the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation. He has been listed in America's Top Doctors, America's Best Doctors, America's Best Doctors for Cancer, and Top Doctors in Philadelphia since 2004. He now brings his expertise to the Bryn Mawr Skin and Cancer Institute.
