What Do Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau™ Do?
Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau™ are all neuromodulators, which is a category of medications that reduce contractions when injected into muscles. The active ingredient, Clostridium Botulinum Toxin Type A, prevents messages sent by the brain from arriving and triggering action in the targeted muscles.
Certain lines on the face—including horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines, and crow’s feet—are directly caused by frequent muscle action. Every expression that involves specific muscles in the forehead or around the eyes pulls the skin in a particular way, forming noticeable creases over time.
Injecting Dysport®, Xeomin®, or Jeuveau™ into the muscles responsible for motion-related lines—known as dynamic wrinkles—makes the lines less visible. Patients will still be able to show emotion and make whatever expressions they want if injected conservatively.

Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau™ have more in common than not. The injectables are all very similar to each other— and to BOTOX® as well—since they are all based on the same natural ingredient and injected into active facial muscles to create a more youthful look.
There are some slight variations that may make one option better than others for certain patients.
Dysport® diffuses a bit more than the other neuromodulators, so it can be ideal for treating larger areas. Xeomin® is made without certain proteins found in the other neuromodulators, which means it can be injected at room temperature (which some patients find more comfortable) and works well for people who develop a “resistance” to the effects of other wrinkle relaxers. Jeuveau™ was the first neuromodulator developed specifically for aesthetic use as opposed to medical conditions.
