BOTOX® for Marionette Lines and Bunny Lines: What Causes Wrinkles Around the Nose?

Marionette Lines

Marionette lines are long, vertical lines or creases that extend from the corners of the mouth to the chin. They are lower on the face than nasolabial folds, which form between and to the sides of the nose and mouth.

Marionette lines get their name because they resemble the grooves that enable wooden string puppets to open and close their mouths. They develop due to both intrinsic and extrinsic aging. Time causes collagen and elastin to diminish in the skin, making the marionette lines appear, deepen, and grow increasingly visible. Unprotected sun exposure, smoking, and frequent pursing of the lips can also cause marionette lines to become more pronounced.

While fillers are often the go-to solution for creases related to volume loss on the lower third of the face, BOTOX® for marionette lines is also an option by relaxing the muscle that pulls the sides of the mouth down—especially when included as part of a combination of treatments.

Bunny Lines

Higher on the face, muscle contractions when you scrunch your nose while laughing, smiling, squinting or making other repeated movements can cause small, diagonal lines to develop directly below the bridge on either side of the nose. These wrinkles look more pronounced when you’re smiling, squinting, or laughing.

Bunny lines BOTOX® and BOTOX® for marionette lines can both improve the appearance of wrinkles on specific areas of the face. If you’re looking up “BOTOX® near me,” “nose BOTOX® costs,” or other details, be sure to contact us for more information.

BOTOX® for Marionette Lines: What Is a Nose Lift with BOTOX®?

In addition to BOTOX® for marionette lines and BOTOX® for bunny lines, a BOTOX® nose lift—which is sometimes referred to as a non-surgical rhinoplasty—is available for patients who want to temporarily alter the appearance of their nose. A so-called BOTOX® nose lift relieves muscle tension, allowing the nose tip to be lifted slightly to give the nose a straighter or more upturned look.

BOTOX® for nose flare or BOTOX® for a wide nose, which involves small amounts of the muscle relaxer being injected into the sides of the nose, reduces unwanted or overactive nasal flaring. These “nose BOTOX®” treatments can make the nose appear to be overall slimmer.

Beyond BOTOX® for Marionette Lines and Nose: What Else Can BOTOX® Be Used For?

BOTOX® for marionette lines is just one option for facial rejuvenation when it comes to botulinum toxin injections. There are many other BOTOX® face treatments and BOTOX® injection sites. BOTOX® for forehead wrinkles minimizes lines on the forehead or between the eyebrows. Under eyes BOTOX® reduces horizontal lines and bulges below the eyes, while a BOTOX® brow lift gives a subtle lift to the eyebrows,

Masseter BOTOX® relaxes overworked or tense jaw muscles to improve the shape of the jaw.

Cirillo Cosmetic Dermatology Spa does not offer BOTOX® for migraines or BOTOX® for TMJ, but the fact that the muscle-relaxer can be used for these medical-related treatments elsewhere speaks to the fact that the injectable is both effective and safe.

Which Cosmetic Procedures Complement BOTOX® for Marionette Lines?

Aside from BOTOX® for marionette lines, Cirillo Cosmetic Dermatology Spa provides other skin rejuvenation strategies, including microneedling, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, and laser skin resurfacing to reduce wrinkles or enhance the look of the skin.

Dermal fillers can often be combined with BOTOX® treatments such as BOTOX® for marionette lines. This is what’s called a “liquid facelift,” which can provide more comprehensive rejuvenation of the face. The Juvederm®, Restylane®, and RHA® lines of hyaluronic acid fillers add volume to reduce marionette lines and other creases. Hyaluronic acid fillers are also used in a non-surgical rhinoplasty to enhance the shape of the nose.
